Located in the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, nestled between two lakes (Big Rideau and Westport Pond) Westport offers both urban and rural painting opportunities. From the Foley Mountain Reserve (325 hectares (800 acres) of mixed forests, ponds, and fields), to Frontenac Park, Bedford Mills, and several Locks along the Rideau Canal in close proximity, plein air artists are sure to find plenty of exciting painting subjects. Our accommodations, The Cove Country Inn, offer country comfort in heritage style.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Westport is renowned for its unique shops, if you are looking for a little break, or wish to bring a non-painter spouse/partner to enjoy this lovely town. Cycling, kayaking, hiking etc are also enjoyable options for the active non-painter. We plan to have a guest presenter (more on that to come), and I will run a mask making workshop (a simple one). Get ready to don your mask for our Halloween celebration in the pub on Wednesday, music night at the Cove. We will be offering happy hour as usual (of course!). In addition, space will be set aside for communal painting should the weather prove inclement at any time. And, if you are new to Plein Air, there are plenty of seasoned painters around to give you a few tips... Hope you can join us! Your PAE hosts - Mary (Moore) & Tom (Lillico) |
